HIKING AND CAVING Minutes away from Sittee River Lodge you can find fascinating jungle hikes. Trek through Mayflower Jungle and ruins to discover Mother Nature at her best! The Antelope Falls hike and Three Sisters Falls hike both lead to beautiful waterfalls, perfect for cooling down. Nearby are the remains of the ancient Mayan city of Mayflower. Archaeologists are still excavating and piecing together the history of this modest Mayan ruin, which is grown over by the jungle. Orchids, birds and lush vegetation are plenty!	COCKSCOMB BASIN WILDLIFE SANCTUARY The Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary is the world’s only jaguar preserve. Surrounded by the Maya Mountains and towering Victoria's Peak, the Basin's 120,000 acres is also home to margays, ocelots, pumas, deer, howler monkeys and tapirs. The park offers a wide variety of hikes, including to Ben's Bluff, which has a spectacular view of the entire Basin, and to a waterfall where you can dip in the refreshing waters. You can take a short tubing trip down a jungle stream. With over 290 recorded species of birds this park is ideal for birders. Bring your binoculars -- as you trek through this rainforest you'll see countless, diverse birds.
DISCOVER MAYAN RUINS The majority of the population of the Stann Creek District is Garifuna; the remainder made up of Maya Indians, Creoles and Guatemalan and Salvadoran refugees. The ancient Maya have fascinated scholars and the general public for centuries. The mystery of the Mayan Civilization lies hidden within the country of Belize. Belize offers a unique view of this little known yet much studied civilization because it is home to a wide variety of sites spanning the lifetime of the Mayas.	BIRDING Belize is the perfect place for birding! From toucans to parrots to white eagles to humming birds, you will have the opportunity to view some of the 500 species of birds in Belize. As you hike through the jungle you will view and hear birds in their natural habitat. During December through March is the unique opportunity to see the endangered Scarlet Macaws that migrate to the Red Bank hills.
FISHING From Sittee River Lodge just two miles down the river the bar mouth opens into the Caribbean Sea, where sport fishermen enjoy world-class permit, tarpon, and bone fishing. In addition, game fishing is also a popular past time.	DIVING Belize offers world-class diving with a diverse marine life. The lay of the local underwater landscape and the ocean currents make Belize owner of the largest coral reef in the Caribbean and the second longest longest barrier reef in the world. The cayes, the offshore atolls, and the barrier reef are the main attractions in Belize.
